SIG Design & Technology Opens Roofing Clinic for Architects

This month we hosted our first roofing clinic at the Architecture Today Technical Seminar at the Building Center on Store Street, London. I’ll explain what happened.

Over the next few months, we’ll be hosting several interactive roofing clinics in partnership with Architecture Today. These sessions help architects learn more about the correct specification of roofing products and give them the opportunity to ask the experts any questions they like.

London’s first Roofing Clinic’s interactive morning begins with breakfast, covering a range of topics including flat roof design, roof warranties, choosing the right insulation, flat roofs for educational buildings, good best practice and slate roof design. A series of fast-talking presentations were held. and best practices. The Building Center had standing room only and was a great way to start the series.

Introduction to roofing clinic

These short presentations helped set the scene for the centerpiece of the event: the Roofed Clinic Round Table. His eight roofing experts from the SIG stable hosted a table where specifiers could discuss ideas generated from the presentations or bring in their own questions about flat and slate roofs.

The tables in the covered clinic were so crowded that it was difficult to split a table for drinks and a delicious lunch.

Here are some frequently asked questions at our clinic.

  • How can you be sure that the slate you specified is used on site? It all comes down to checking the label on the crate. Learn more about.
  • What is B?roof(t4)? There is no such thing as a stupid question. This is a blog post explaining external roof fire resistance testing methods and terminology.
  • Is NHBC worth it? What should we be careful about? There was an interesting answer to this question!
  • Can you flip the slate over and get a perfectly flat side? Not really, but it’s best to understand what the dressed edge of natural slate does.
  • Rock wool or foam glass insulation? Post something in our knowledge base!
  • What products do we offer? – We don’t just deal in flat roofs (membranes, liquid, hotmelt, green roofs, biodiverse roofs, blue roofs), but also slate, zinc, copper, aluminium, We also offer tiles, solar and cladding, and as one of the largest specialist suppliers, we take a systems approach.
  • How much does the service cost? Free for designated users! Learn more about.

our approach

Roof Clinic ApproachSIG D&T is your one-stop shop for roofing services. Our approach is to reduce risk for you and your clients by supporting good design, good product selection and managing installation.

For example, here’s how the installer works:

Proper construction is essential for roof construction. We have certified installers who provide training and their work is inspected by our field technicians. This allows us to offer a guarantee, but it also means you can be confident that the work has been carried out to a suitable standard by an approved installer.

Prime contractors often have a preferred installer, and our certified contractors provide peace of mind to their services. They know that we provide technical support throughout the process, which is why we often partner with prime contractors across the entire project portfolio.

Collaboration is at the heart of a great roofing project. Clear lines of responsibility and accountability, shared risk and an open approach to meeting client requirements are key.

Flat roof specification checklist

Flat roof specification checklist In the roofing clinic, we used a checklist for flat roofs. This tool allows specifiers to identify the client’s key priorities and prepares for optimal technical support. You can download your copy here.

Please look forward to the next roof clinic.

We are pleased to be the first company to host an Architecture Today technical seminar. The interactive nature of the event opens up roofing design challenges that allow for technical support tailored to specifiers of all levels of experience, while reflecting our company philosophy of providing accurate and agnostic advice. It will be done. In the coming months, SIG Design and Technology will be rebranded to Accuroof to better reflect the services it provides to specifiers.
