SIG Design & Technology SIGNnature Ultra Protect FAQ: Next Generation PU Roofing

Liquid waterproofing systems are ideal for flat roofs that incorporate complex abutments, numerous penetrations, roof vegetation, or varying slopes. With their strength, elasticity and proven technology, polyurethane (PU) systems are the ideal modern solution.

This article introduces SIGNature Ultra Protect, a complete BBA-approved PU roof waterproofing system, and answers some of your frequently asked questions.

What is SIGNature Ultra Protect?

SIGNature Ultra Protect is a next-generation PU system focused on simplicity, adaptability, and effectiveness. This two-coat system is quick and easy to apply, adaptable to a wide range of roofing materials, making it suitable for a variety of applications and quick and easy to use. SIGNature Ultra Protect’s elastomeric properties allow it to withstand the various stresses that roofs are subjected to, allowing it to offer a warranty of up to 25 years.

What is the difference between SIGNature Ultra Protect and other PU systems?

Two-coat PU systems traditionally use a polyester reinforcement layer between the topcoat and basecoat, with a 75mm overlap that creates a visible line in the finished waterproofing. SIGNature Ultra Protect is different.

SIGNature Ultra Protect uses a fiberglass chopped strand mat as a reinforcing layer and is applied over a wet base coat. The ingredients in his PU liquid in Signature Ultra Protect allow the mat to break down into individual fibers when applied, reducing the risk of wrinkles and making the mat easy to incorporate every time.

A minimum overlap of 50mm is required, but once cured there will be no visible lines and a smooth, attractive and flexible finish.

What types of projects is SIGNature Ultra Protect ideal for?

  • Small and large projects: SIGNature Ultra Protect is suitable for both large and small domestic and commercial projects, from private residential roof extensions to large complex roofs.
  • Building in use: Due to its low odor and VOC content compared to other systems, SIGNature Ultra Protect is also suitable and frequently used in occupied buildings.
  • as an overlay: SIGNature Ultra Protect can be used on a wide range of substrates without removing existing waterproofing, reducing waste to landfill.

If your project includes a moderate number of complex joints and transits, SIGnature Ultra Protect’s simplicity and adaptability make it a cost-effective solution, whether for new construction or renovation.
